About

Wagyu evidence, clarified

WagyuSpot is a curated, independent directory of where to eat, buy, and source real Wagyu in the United States. The word “Wagyu” is on more menus than ever and means less than ever. We exist to make it mean something again: every listing is checked against its own sourcing, not the adjectives in its marketing.

01

What we cover

Three equal pillars, cross-linked so you can follow the beef end to end: restaurants that serve it, retailers that ship it, and the farms that raise it. On top of that sit the Japanese prefectures and brands, and the Kobe collection, covering one of the most tightly controlled regional Wagyu brands.

Right now that is 826 restaurants across 46 states, 36 retailers, and 47 farms. Of those, 310 restaurants, 30 retailers, and 39 farms have cleared the full provenance standard below and count as verified; the rest are published as a menu claim only. It grows in small, checked batches rather than all at once.

02

Our standard

A listing earns its place by disclosing its provenance: a Japanese brand or prefecture and a grade, a U.S. breed status and a named producer, or an Australian marble score and producer. Without that, a venue can still appear, honestly, as a menu claim only: published, but carrying no authenticity badge and never counted as verified. Published and verified are not the same thing, and we keep them strictly apart.

The Kobe badge has WagyuSpot’s most exacting evidence rule. A venue has to be on the official Kobe Beef Association registry and have Kobe on its current menu. Nothing is guessed or fuzzy-matched. Read the full method.

03

How we stay independent

WagyuSpot is free to read and reader-supported. Some of our outbound links to online retailers are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them, and WagyuSpot does not add a fee. Retailers control their own prices and offer terms. That relationship never buys a listing, a badge, or a better ranking: curation and verification are decided the same way whether or not a seller has an affiliate program, and the commercial terms are never shown on a listing. Our affiliate disclosure and privacy policy spell this out in full.

Corrections and submissions

The directory is only as good as its accuracy. If a listing is wrong, a venue has changed, or you know a place that belongs here, tell us and we will check it. Reach us at hello@wagyuspot.com.
