How we make money
Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated July 25, 2026
WagyuSpot is a free, independently curated directory of Wagyu restaurants, online retailers, and farms in the United States. To help cover the cost of running the site, some of our outbound links to online sellers are affiliate links. This page explains what that means and, just as importantly, what it does not change about how we curate and verify the venues we list.
How affiliate links work here
Some of the links we provide to online Wagyu sellers are affiliate links. These are outbound links to a store where you can buy Wagyu: an online retailer, or the direct-to-consumer shop of a farm that sells its own beef. When you click one of those links and buy something at that seller's own store, the seller or the affiliate network it works with may pay WagyuSpot a commission on that sale. Those commissions are how a small, independent directory like this one keeps the lights on.
WagyuSpot adds no fee
WagyuSpot does not add a markup, fee, or surcharge when you follow an affiliate link. The retailer controls its prices, discounts, and eligibility rules, so compare the final price and terms before ordering. If a qualifying purchase earns a commission, the retailer or affiliate network pays it to us.
Our curation is never for sale
This is the part that matters most. Money never buys a place on WagyuSpot. Whether a restaurant, retailer, or farm is listed, what tier it holds, how it ranks, and whether it earns our verified or Kobe badge are decided only by our authenticity and grade checks. No business can pay us for a listing, for a higher position, for a badge, or for a friendlier write-up. Whether or not a link happens to earn us a commission has no bearing on which venues we include or how we rank and verify them. If we would not recommend a place, no commission would change that.
Which links are affiliate, and which are not
Only our outbound links to a seller's own store can ever be affiliate links: an online retailer, or the direct-buy shop of a farm that sells its own beef. Not even all of those are monetized. Links to restaurants, our map, our guides, and our editorial pages are never affiliate links. And nothing we earn depends on listing, ranking, or verifying any venue: a commission is only ever possible on a purchase you make after you click through to a seller's store, never on the act of including or rating a place. Many retailer and farm links are not monetized at all.
No sponsored listings or paid reviews
We do not run sponsored listings, paid placements, or paid reviews. Nothing on WagyuSpot is written or positioned because an advertiser paid for it. If that ever changes, we will label any such content clearly as advertising, so you always know what you are reading.
Where you will see disclosures
Where our links to online retailers can earn us a commission, we say so on the pages those links appear, close to the outbound button, and not only here. Following the guidance of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, we keep a plain disclosure near the links you actually use. This page is the fuller explanation behind those shorter notes.
How we describe our affiliate relationships
Some affiliate programs require participants to include specific wording. Where we join such a program and its terms require it, we add exactly the wording that program asks for. Otherwise we keep our disclosures general. We never publish which networks or retailers pay us, or how much, because that commercial detail has no place on a public listing.
You can always go direct
You are always free to visit any retailer directly instead of using our links. Our recommendations do not depend on you clicking an affiliate link, and neither does anything you see on the site.
Your privacy when you click
When you click a tracked outbound button, WagyuSpot records limited click information as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not set a cookie for this measurement. After you follow the link, you enter a site we do not control; the retailer or its affiliate network may set its own cookie to credit a sale. Those cookies and that site's data practices are governed by the destination's privacy policy, not ours.
