Why it's listed

4B Meats is a family ranching operation run by Dustin and Brittany Borden and their sons near Gruver, in the Texas Panhandle. They breed their own small Angus cow herd to full-blood, registered Black Wagyu bulls to produce F1 Wagyu (50% Wagyu), raised from birth to plate and finished at the connected Morris Stock Farm feedyard on an all-natural extended-feed program. Beef is dry-aged a minimum of 21 days and sold direct to consumers across the Panhandle via local pickup, delivery, and regional partners. The operation is transparent about its F1 genetics. No nationwide shipping is offered.

01

Both ends of the chain, on one page

4B Meats is Dustin and Brittany Borden's operation at Gruver, in the Texas panhandle, founded formally in 2018 around the time its third calf crop hit the ground. It breeds a small Angus cow herd to fullblood registered Black Wagyu bulls, producing F1 beef raised from birth to plate.

The detail that makes this listing unusual is where the finishing happens. 4B is headquartered at Morris Stock Farm, the panhandle feedyard also listed in this directory, and its cattle finish there on an extended all-natural programme. Most beef labels never name the yard that finished the animal, because the yard is a contractor and naming contractors is nobody's marketing plan. Here both ends of that relationship are on the record, and a reader can look up the feeder as well as the brand.

That matters more than it sounds. Marbling is deposited late in the feeding period, so the yard and its ration shape the eating quality about as much as the genetics do, and it is the one stage of the chain a consumer almost never gets a name for.

02

It states the percentage in plain numbers

The farm writes it out: all its beef is F1 Wagyu, meaning 50 percent fullblood registered Black Wagyu crossed with a breed commonly found in America such as Angus. It goes further and says its beef is not quite as rich as fullblood, so customers can enjoy the benefits of Wagyu at every meal.

Telling a customer your product is less rich than the premium tier is not a normal sales move, and it happens to be the truthful one. Fullblood at a full steak portion defeats most people; an F1 is the version you can eat as dinner rather than as an event.

Beef is dry-aged at least 21 days, which the farm explains in terms of enzyme activity and connective tissue breakdown rather than leaving it as a buzzword. Dry ageing concentrates flavour and costs yield, since the surface has to be trimmed away afterwards, so it is a real expense a producer takes on rather than a claim.

03

A panhandle proposition

Sales are direct across the Texas panhandle by local pickup, delivery and regional partners, including outlets in Borger, and the operation makes a point of buying supplies and services locally across Dumas, Gruver, Spearman, Stratford, Borger, Sunray and Amarillo. There is no nationwide shipping.

That is a coherent shape rather than a limitation: a farm finishing its own cattle at a yard twenty minutes away and selling to the towns around it has a short chain by design, and short chains are why the provenance here is checkable at all.

Common questions

How much Wagyu is in 4B's beef?
Half. The farm states it plainly: F1, 50 percent fullblood registered Black Wagyu crossed with an American breed such as Angus. It also says the result is less rich than fullblood, which is accurate and not the usual sales pitch.
Where are its cattle finished?
At Morris Stock Farm, the panhandle feedyard 4B is headquartered at, on an extended all-natural feeding programme. Naming the yard is rare, and it matters because marbling is laid down late, so the ration shapes the result nearly as much as the genetics.
Does 4B ship?
No. It sells across the Texas panhandle through local pickup, delivery and regional partners. No nationwide shipping is offered.
