  • The ranch's Wagyu bulls are described as coming from the Tajima line, which the site calls "the same line known for Kobe beef in Japan". That is a note about genetics rather than about the beef. Kobe is a certified Japanese designation that no American ranch can earn, and what is sold here is a Wagyu and Angus cross raised in Utah.

Why it's listed

Bennion Beef is a fifth generation family ranch on Vernon Creek in Utah's West Desert, below the Sheeprock Mountains, held by the same family since pioneer times. Since 2017 it has bred full blood Tajima line Wagyu bulls to its own Black Angus cows, and that F1 cross is the American Wagyu it sells, alongside straight Angus. Calves are born and raised on the ranch, grass fed on their mothers for six to eight months, then grain supplemented, and dry aged about two weeks at local USDA inspected butchers. Delivery within Utah is free.

01

An Angus ranch that changed its bulls

Bennion Beef runs cattle at Vernon, in Utah's west desert. Its cow herd is Black Angus and has stayed Black Angus, but since 2017 every terminal sire the ranch has used has been a fullblood Tajima Wagyu bull. The animal that becomes beef is therefore a first cross, and the ranch says so in plain words rather than leaving it to be inferred.

This is the most common shape of American Wagyu and one of the least often described honestly. A first cross carries half the Wagyu genetics and, fed properly, produces marbling well beyond what the Angus side would give on its own, without pretending to be something it is not. The ranch's own product names carry the cross rather than hiding it.

02

It ships to some states and not others

The shipping question here has a specific answer rather than a general one. Asking the ranch's own checkout to quote a delivery for a beef box returns rates for Utah and for California and returns nothing at all for the east coast, so this is regional delivery rather than national shipping, and no nationwide claim is made on this listing.

That distinction matters more for beef than for most goods. Frozen product moves in insulated packaging on a clock, and a producer who has worked out a two-state lane is being sensible rather than limited. It does mean a reader outside that lane should ask before assuming.
