Menu claim only

This listing's current published materials advertise Wagyu, but the offering does not meet our full verification standard for provenance. It carries no authenticity badge; undisclosed details remain explicitly unverified.

Authenticity flags

  • The Japanese A5 filet is offered on grade alone. No prefecture, brand or farm is named for it, and nothing says a certificate of authenticity travels with the cut, so ask at the counter which programme the beef comes from before you buy.
  • Japanese A5 turns up as an occasional in-stock announcement rather than a fixture, and the case also carries non-Wagyu beef such as Choice Angus. Call ahead if you are making the trip for Wagyu specifically.

Why it's listed

Southern Wagyu Meat Market began as a Huntsville food truck and now runs a bistro and butcher counter on Highway 72 East, open Tuesday to Saturday. The counter sells raw steaks, filets and ground beef, and the shop periodically announces Japanese A5 filet in stock alongside its everyday cuts, with the kitchen building burgers and steaks from the same case. Everything is bought in person or delivered locally around Huntsville and Madison, so there is no mail order. Prices sit in the mid range, and the Wagyu is described by grade rather than by farm.

01

A counter in Huntsville, not a website

Southern Wagyu Meat Market is a walk-in butcher counter in Huntsville. It trades and posts its stock as it lands, and in August 2026 that included Japanese A5 filet, announced alongside an invitation to come and look at the raw case.

It has no online store. Two domains that look as though they might be its shop are not: one is an empty site with nothing on it, the other is an unrelated parked address. So this is a listing for people who can drive to Madison County, and it should not be read as a source you can order from.

02

Why it is listed without a grade badge

A shop announcing A5 filet in a social post is telling you something real, and it is enough to publish the listing. It is not enough to badge the sourcing, because the post names a grade and nothing else: no prefecture, no brand, no certificate, and no way to check any of it after the stock sells through.

That is the ordinary condition of a good local butcher rather than a criticism of one. Counters buy what their supplier has that week and describe it the way the supplier did. If you want to know whose beef it is, the person behind the counter is the one who can tell you, and in a shop this size they usually will.
