Wagyu from $11 on the menu we read · up to $140
This listing's current published materials advertise Wagyu, but the offering does not meet our full verification standard for provenance. It carries no authenticity badge; undisclosed details remain explicitly unverified.
Why it's listed
A modern steakhouse on North Prince Street in downtown Lancaster that republishes its menu monthly. The current edition carries a dedicated WAGYU SELECTION headed Japanese Kobe Region, A5 Grade 11, sold by the ounce in two cuts: striploin at $30 an ounce and filet mignon at $35, in 4 to 16 ounce portions, with both also offered in 4 oz increments on a build-your-own steak tasting board. Wagyu runs through the rest of the menu in the house chili, an a la plancha meatloaf and a casarecce bolognese. No prefecture, brand or farm is named.
Authenticity flags
- The Wagyu section is headed 'Japanese Kobe Region' and graded A5, but Kobe is a city in Hyogo rather than a region, and this restaurant is not among the small number of US venues licensed to serve certified Kobe beef. Read the heading as a general reference to Japanese beef, not as certified Kobe.
- No prefecture, brand or farm is named for the A5 anywhere on the menu or the website, so the origin behind the grade is not disclosed. Ask before ordering if a specific Japanese origin matters to you.
- The menu is republished monthly and the Wagyu cuts change with it. A Wagyu ribeye cap offered earlier in the summer is no longer listed, so confirm the day's cuts when you book.

Common questions
- Does 401 Prime serve real Wagyu?
- Its own current menu advertises Wagyu, and that claim was read directly on August 17, 2026. What the menu does not do is say which Wagyu: no prefecture, grade, breed status or producer is published, so the sourcing cannot be checked from outside. That is a gap in what is written down rather than a suggestion that anything is wrong with the beef, and plenty of kitchens buy carefully without printing the details.
- What kind of Wagyu does 401 Prime serve?
- Its menu discloses A5 Japanese. Each of those is taken from the venue's own current materials rather than from a review or a listing site, and the evidence behind it is quoted further down this page.
- Why is 401 Prime listed without a Wagyu badge?
- Because a badge here means the sourcing was checked, not that the food is good. This listing is published because the venue genuinely advertises Wagyu on its own current material, and it carries no badge because that material does not say which Wagyu. If the venue publishes the prefecture, grade, breed status or producer, the listing can move.
