This listing's current published materials advertise Wagyu, but the offering does not meet our full verification standard for provenance. It carries no authenticity badge; undisclosed details remain explicitly unverified.

Why it's listed

An Italian restaurant in a restored Lake Drive mansion, open daily for dinner with a cocktail lounge attached. Its dinner menu carries a dedicated section headed Snake River Farms Wagyu Beef with four cuts: a 12 oz ribeye, a 6 oz Black Label tenderloin, an 8 oz Black Label Kobe hanger and a 10 oz Gold Label C.C. sirloin, all served with braised mushrooms and onions. The beef is American Wagyu from Idaho. Gold Label and Black Label describe marbling rather than breed, and no generation of Wagyu cross is stated. Private dining offers the same beef on request.

Authenticity flags

  • Despite its name, the Black Label Kobe Hanger is not certified Kobe beef from Japan. It sits under the restaurant's own 'Snake River Farms Wagyu Beef' heading, so it is American Wagyu raised in Idaho, and at 52 it is the cheapest cut in that section. 'American Kobe' was Snake River Farms' own older name for its beef.
  • The menu names the producer but not the breed. Gold Label and Black Label are Snake River Farms marbling grades, not a statement of how much Japanese Wagyu bloodline the cattle carry.
  • The ribeye is listed as Gold Label on the website and as Black Label in the PDF menu the same page offers for download, at the same 12 oz and the same price. Ask which is being served if the grade matters to you.
  • The 1873 Old Fashioned on the cocktail list is made with smoked wagyu bourbon and walnut bitters. That is a flavouring in a drink rather than a Wagyu dish.

Common questions

Does Mangiamo serve real Wagyu?
Its own current menu advertises Wagyu, and that claim was read directly on August 17, 2026. What the menu does not do is say which Wagyu: no prefecture, grade, breed status or producer is published, so the sourcing cannot be checked from outside. That is a gap in what is written down rather than a suggestion that anything is wrong with the beef, and plenty of kitchens buy carefully without printing the details.
What kind of Wagyu does Mangiamo serve?
Its menu discloses Snake River Farms Gold Label / Black Label (marbling tier, listed both ways), Snake River Farms Black Label (marbling tier) and Snake River Farms Gold Label (marbling tier). Each of those is taken from the venue's own current materials rather than from a review or a listing site, and the evidence behind it is quoted further down this page.
Why is Mangiamo listed without a Wagyu badge?
Because a badge here means the sourcing was checked, not that the food is good. This listing is published because the venue genuinely advertises Wagyu on its own current material, and it carries no badge because that material does not say which Wagyu. If the venue publishes the prefecture, grade, breed status or producer, the listing can move.
