Wagyu from $175 on the menu we read

Menu claim only

This listing's current published materials advertise Wagyu, but the offering does not meet our full verification standard for provenance. It carries no authenticity badge; undisclosed details remain explicitly unverified.

Why it's listed

A steakhouse that opened in 2026 inside a former downtown bank at 201 E Front Street, serving Tuesday to Saturday from 4pm with reservations on Resy. Its August 2026 menu runs a Prime Butcher Cuts list of USDA prime steaks alongside two Wagyu items: a Wagyu Tomahawk For Two at 30 oz for $175 under Sharable Cuts, and a Prime Beef Tartar at $24 built from filet mignon and wagyu sirloin. Neither names a country, grade, brand or producer. The menu says only that all steaks are hand cut in the in-house butcher shop.

Authenticity flags

  • The Wagyu tomahawk and the wagyu sirloin in the beef tartare are listed with no country, grade, brand or farm, so nothing on the menu says where that beef comes from. Ask before ordering if origin matters to you.
  • Menu listings on third-party sites still show a 10 oz Wagyu sirloin steak at $42. That steak is not on the restaurant's own August 2026 menu, where the only Wagyu steak is a 30 oz Wagyu Tomahawk For Two at $175.

Common questions

Does The Pretty Penny serve real Wagyu?
Its own current menu advertises Wagyu, and that claim was read directly on August 17, 2026. What the menu does not do is say which Wagyu: no prefecture, grade, breed status or producer is published, so the sourcing cannot be checked from outside. That is a gap in what is written down rather than a suggestion that anything is wrong with the beef, and plenty of kitchens buy carefully without printing the details.
Why is The Pretty Penny listed without a Wagyu badge?
Because a badge here means the sourcing was checked, not that the food is good. This listing is published because the venue genuinely advertises Wagyu on its own current material, and it carries no badge because that material does not say which Wagyu. If the venue publishes the prefecture, grade, breed status or producer, the listing can move.
