Wagyu from $25 on the menu we read
Why it's listed
Missoula's long running Japanese restaurant, in the historic Wilma Building on South Higgins Avenue since 1998 and serving Tuesday through Sunday from 5pm. Its dinner menu names both prefecture and grade on the beef itself: a 6 oz Miyazaki A5 New York strip at 89 dollars, plated on shiitake mushroom with snow crab, ponzu and daikon. Wagyu also appears as a 25 dollar Japanese Wagyu BBQ plate, an A5 Wagyu nigiri at market price, and a specialty roll topped with seared Japanese Wagyu. Fish is sourced directly from Tsukiji Market.
Authenticity flags
- The menu also lists a 25 dollar Kobe Burger, a half pound burger with bacon, cheddar and fries. That is a menu name rather than certified Kobe beef from Hyogo, and this kitchen does not appear on the official Kobe register. The Miyazaki A5 New York strip is the cut that carries a stated prefecture and grade, so that is the one to order if Japanese origin and grade are what you want.

Common questions
- Does Hana serve real Wagyu?
- Yes, and it says where the beef comes from. Hana in Missoula, MT publishes enough detail on its own materials to identify the Wagyu it sells, which is the standard this directory calls verified, last checked on August 18, 2026. That means a named Japanese brand or prefecture with its grade, an American breed status with a named producer, or an Australian producer with a marbling score.
- What kind of Wagyu does Hana serve?
- Its menu discloses Miyazaki A5, Japanese and A5 Japanese. Each of those is taken from the venue's own current materials rather than from a review or a listing site, and the evidence behind it is quoted further down this page.
- How was Hana verified?
- By reading the venue's own current material, its menu, its site or its ordering system, and quoting the line that names the beef. Reviews, aggregator copies and press mentions are not accepted as the source, because they go stale silently. Verification is assisted by AI and every claim is stored with the page it came from, last confirmed on August 18, 2026.
