Eating Wagyu in Hawaii
Twenty-two Hawaii restaurants publish here and seven clear the full sourcing standard, with fifteen resting on a menu claim. Five of the seven are in Honolulu, one is at Wailea on Maui and one is up at Haleiwa on Oahu's North Shore.
Hawaii is the yakiniku capital of this directory. Five of its seven verified rooms serve Wagyu over a tabletop grill, which is more of them than New York manages out of seventeen verified rooms, and exactly one room in the state calls itself a steakhouse. The North Shore room cooks it on a lava rock at the table instead, which is the same idea by another route. Two of the five are branches of the same yakiniku house, one in Kaka'ako and one in Waikiki.
What Hawaii does not do is name the producer. Not one of the seven carries the Sourcing Transparent badge, and not one cites a ranch or a farm anywhere in our records. Among states with five or more verified rooms only Georgia and Virginia match that, so in practice Hawaii is where provenance stops at the prefecture and the grade and goes no further up the supply chain.
Zero Hawaii rooms hold a Kobe registry licence and zero carry the Certified Kobe badge. None of the seven reaches the top tier either. Every one documents Japanese beef and not one documents American or Australian, which makes this the most single-minded state on the list: one origin, one format, one island holding six of the seven rooms.

Wagyu in Hawaii, answered
- How many verified Wagyu restaurants are in Hawaii?
- 7 restaurants are verified for disclosed Wagyu sourcing in Hawaii, plus 15 more with a menu-confirmed offering. Verified and menu-confirmed are separate: the latter means a current first-party menu advertises Wagyu, but the available evidence does not establish full provenance.
- Can you get Kobe beef in Hawaii?
- None of our verified Hawaii venues currently show a Certified Kobe badge. That means WagyuSpot has not found both an official venue-directory match and a current Kobe menu claim locally; it is not a conclusion about evidence the directory has not reviewed. See the national Kobe list for current matches.
- What kinds of Wagyu do Hawaii restaurants serve?
- Listed Hawaii venues disclose American, Australian and Japanese Wagyu, including named origins such as Miyazaki, Kagoshima, Washugyu. Each listing states what the venue's own menu discloses, plus the grade or producer where one is named.
- Which cities in Hawaii have verified Wagyu restaurants?
- Honolulu has at least two verified venues, which is the threshold for a city page of its own. Verified rooms elsewhere in Hawaii are listed on this page rather than under a city.
- How are Hawaii Wagyu restaurants verified?
- Each venue is checked against current first-party evidence before it publishes. Documented provenance can qualify for verification; menu-only Wagyu claims appear as menu-confirmed without an authenticity badge. Kobe requires both the official registry and Kobe on the current menu.
